Next steps for SOAF

Gregor was keen to impress upon us that we had built some momentum simply by having such a well attended first meeting, but ongoing participation was the key.

A number of issues were discussed, but if you have an idea as to what SOAF could do please post a comment here.

Further separate postings have been made on what we did agree and there is a posting on how SOAF should be organised.

I am obviously coming to this post rather late in the day, but it occurred to me as a new author (work in progress), something that I would really love to get out of SoAF is to benefit from the experiences of other members navigating the minefield that is tax/social security for British writers receiving monies from abroad. I have a UK agent and main publisher, contracts with the US and other countries, and after spending 5 months just obtaining the IR waiver on payment of tax in the UK, I can see that this is going to be an uphill struggle.

It would also be interesting to know if any members can recommend good accountants who are experienced in dealing with writers/royalty income.

This may have already been covered in your first meeting, sorry if I am repeating anything.
